National Theatre

The cultural endeavours of the period of the Czech national revival culminated in the battle for an independent theatre building. After many difficulties had been overcome and funds raised throughout the country, such a building was eventually constructed in the neo-Renaissance style, and opened in 1883. Typical of the National Theatre is the fact that, since its opening, it has staged productions in all genres - opera, drama and ballet. Opera: The death of Hippodamy - Zdenek Fibich, Tosca and La Boheme - Giacomo Puccini, Libuse and The Bartered Bride - Bedrich Smetana. Ballet: Picovaya Dama - Pyotr Ilyich Tschaikovsky, Giselle von Adam.

Black Theatre

Mixture of music, mime, ballet and film - the best show in town. Large-screen unique projections as well as technical effects. Our Tips: Black-Light-Theatre Ta Fantastika - "Aspects of Alice" (A poetic black light performance of motifs from "Alice in Wonderland" by Lewis Caroll, with music by Peter Hapka). Jiri Srnec Black Theatre - "Ahasver - Legends of Magic Prague" (Ahasver - the eternal wanderer - accompanies the audience walking through the old legends - The Faust House, The Mysterious Bridegroom, Emperor Rudolf II. and his court, he lives through the tale of Rabbi Yehuda Löw - the creation of Golem and discovery of the philosopher's stone).

Laterna Magika

Laterna Magika introduced itself to the audience for the first time at EXPO 58 in Brussels. Since then it has been active both on its mother scene in Prague and during numerous tours all over the world. Laterna magika is the theatre the secret of which is in the original connection of film picture and scene action. It also means that neither the picture nor the action on the scene have a meaning by themselves because the same originates exactly by their connection is the bacis creative efforts of Laterna Magika. Repertory: Wonderful Circus, Odysseus, Casanova, Puzzles, Trap.

State Opera

One of the most beautiful interiors in Europe - offers an attractive repertory of world opera titles in original language version with Czech surtitles. Repertory: Rigoletto, Il Trovatore, Aida, La Traviata - Verdi, Tosca and Madame Butterfly - Puccini, Carmen - Bizet.

Villa Bertramka

Permanent Exhibition reminds of the glourious period in the history of Bertramka, when W. A. Mozart used to be hosted there by the homesteads owners: singer Josefa Duskova and composer Frantisek Xaver Dusek. Personal souvenirs, music instruments, manuscripts, letters, pictures of the period, engravings, prints, and other documents are exhibited in its seven parlours, bringing a testimony of Mozart's relationship to Prague. There are regular Concerts of Chamber Music.

Marionette Theatre

Don Giovanni had its world premiere in Prague. In the Prague repertory today there is also this version of classical marionette theatre, in stylish costumes and stage design of life-size marionettes. The production celebrates Mozart's time and milieu in a form of authentic 18 th century spectacle. Opera is not only for adults but it is a great family entertainment as well.
